"A Precious Reticule In Red Morocco With Tortoise Shell Marquetry - England Dated 1836"
Dated 1836 England Rare Reticle in red morocco with inlaid tortoiseshell dating from the period of King William IV, before Queen Victoria's accession to the English throne in 1837. Inside, a moving ball notebook, hardly legible dated 1836. It is a reticle miraculously preserved by time, with three bellows of scarlet red morocco finely engraved with neo-Gothic friezes, in the shape of scallop shells. In the center on both sides a plaque in blond tortoiseshell finely inlaid with pewter fillets in the corners (slight oxidation). Double straps miraculously preserved, as well as an attachment loop on both sides (which work) in silver metal chiseled in the shape of a violin, suggesting a pineapple. Detachable interior pockets that carefully concealed the dance book, the ancestor of the cell phone! Note, a natural patina of time, but in a very limited way because the edges and angles are not worn. No defects to report. Exceptional state of conservation. Dimensions: Width 17 cm, height 15 cm, height of straps 18 cm.
