"Jesus And Mary: Portraits On Vellum Early 18th Century"
Very high quality miniatures painted in gouache on vellum from the early 18th century, perhaps late 17th century. One work represents the Virgin Mary in bust, the other Jesus, a young man. Each one appears in the center in an oval medallion framed with scroll motifs, themselves surrounded by a rich polychrome decoration of roses, tulips and bindweed. The paint stroke is done in the manner of illuminations, the colors are beautiful and " fresh", the animal vellum support adds to the luminosity of the whole. Gilded wood frames with ogee and foliage highlights at the corners (some small gaps and understandable wear to the gilding) from the 18th century. Bubbled glass, back closure with wooden panels. Dimensions at sight: 13.2 cm X 9.5 cm. Note: the fold of the pink shirt of the child and his mother. Very delicate work, certain parts of the faces and flowers are treated in pointillism. Delivery: €15 for mainland France
