Lamp for photographic laboratory. Pigeon lamp. Safe red glass sleeve. Created by Charles Pigeon, this gasoline lamp could burn for more than 15 hours and was guaranteed inexplosive. The trademark found on all the lamps, in addition to the name, represents a pigeon resting on a terrestrial globe and carrying a lamp in its beak. Created in 1884, Pigeon brass lamps became widespread and specialized, candle lamps, wall lamps, flashlights and lamps for photographic development with red colored glasses which appeared in 1885. These safe red glass sleeves are quite rare, they allow the development of photos by providing a little light without altering the chemistry.
