"Mother-of-pearl Ball Book From 1818, Palais Royal, “souvenir”, Restoration Period"
So-called “ball” notebook made up of two finely engraved mother-of-pearl plaques. In the center of the first side the thought in enamel and gold characteristic of the objects sold in the boutiques of the Palais Royal in Paris. The inscription “souvenir” can be read above. In the center of the second side an escutcheon also in gold. Inside, the original notebook with a calendar from 1818. On a few pages there are small engravings on the upper part. Inscriptions in English dated 1832 on the first two pages. Pretty gilded bronze frame decorated on the side with its lead pencil stylus with a tip in the shape of a sword pommel which allows the notebook to be closed. Silk interior. The notebook measures 3,54 inches long and 2,36 inches wide. France, Paris, 1818.
