The colossal statue was discovered in the mid-16th century in the area of the Baths of Caracalla, under the pontificate of Paul III, now preserved in the Archaeological Museum of Naples.
This splendid terracotta sculpture represents the mythical hero in a moment of rest from his famous twelve labours. He leans on the club, from which the skin of the Nemean lion hangs.
