Important 19th century porcelain biscuit made by Hippolyte Moreau entitled: "Mother and her daughter waiting for the arrival of a fisherman". Very expressive subject imbued with gentleness and grace. Beautiful, very decorative collector's item. Presented on its round base in midnight blue porcelain which highlights the biscuit. Signed intaglio on the terrace. H: 48cm without the base With the base: 56cm Good condition. Hippolyte Moreau was born in Dijon in 1832 and died in Neuilly in 1926. Attended the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts. Was a student of his father, also a renowned sculptor. He exhibited at the Salon of French Artists from 1863 to 1914. He won medals at the universal exhibitions of 1878 and 1900 Works exhibited at the Dijon Museum.
