Joseph LEVIN born in Saint Petersburg in 1894 after having frequented Larionov and the Russian avant-garde and learned calligraphy in China, went to Paris in 1926 then to New York in 1935 where he opened a workshop in Greenwich Village. Returning to France in 1970, he died near Avignon in 1979. Joseph LEVIN also a writer and poet, costume designer for the Russian ballets, exhibited in many cities around the world in Paris, London, Amsterdam, New York, Washington , Moscow and Rome.
