Object description :

"Jean-baptiste Lebas"
Elegant pair of 18th century armchairs in walnut from the Louis XV style, stamped Jean-Baptiste Lebas carpenter of seats, born in 1729 and received master's degree on July 29, 1756.
Sculpted, the whip is very elegant, the seat is wide, the belt and the back are carved with flowers. The seat covered in a very beautiful green embossed velvet fabric with floral decoration.
Jean-Baptiste Lebas establishes his workshop on rue de Cléry in Paris, under the Saint-Esprit brand. He worked for an elitist clientele including the Countess du Barry and the Count d'Artois.
He died in 1795.
We find our carpenter's seats at the Louvre, Versailles, Carnavalet, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, etc...
