"Léon Jouhaud (1874-1950) "limousin Fauve Landscape, C. 1907/1910" Limougeaud Enameler Painter,"
SUPERB and rare oil/cardboard by Léon Jouhaud representing a Limousin landscape circa 1907/1910, signed lower right. Format of the painting only hoirs frame 38x45.5cm This is therefore a fairly rare painting from the Fauvist period by Léon Jouhaud, produced around 1907/1910, he paints here a landscape with farms in Limousin, probably between Limoges, Eymoutiers or Tarnac where the artist set up his easel a lot. As usual in this very early period, when he had not yet started his work on enamel, Jouhaud was still influenced by his father-in-law, Charles Bichet, if this Jouhaud is even more daring with the colors coming out of the tube, we see him here with very intense greens, pinks, mauves, oranges; his touch is very powerful, with large flat areas, in short his paintings of this period have nothing to envy of the achievements of Valtat, Camoin, Syssaud or other Othon-Friesz, moreover as we can see, Jouhaud did not was only a follower, the proof is that he was doing Fauvism at the height of the period, or 2/3 years later. I no longer present Léon Jouhaud, famous painter, writer, ceramist and enameler Limougeaud, therefore son-in-law and student of Charles Bichet, having also rubbed shoulders with numerous painters from the Crozant school, such as Guillaumin, Detroy, Alluaud or Paul Thomas, another great friend of the painter, he even took care of having the latter's works repatriated when he died in Marseille in 1910; he exhibited at Rouard in Paris, Dalpayrat in Limoges etc... There are several works on his work. This painting on cardboard is entirely original, in very good condition, delivered in a modern golden baguette Work guaranteed authentic
