"Still Life, Henriette Guillemot Alias Lucie Couvreur Rennaise Artist"
Born into a wealthy family in Rennes in 1898, passionate about painting since a young age; she married Doctor Emmanuel Porteu de la Morandière and at that time adopted the pseudonym Lucie Couvreur. She took courses at the Académie Julian from 1928 to 1939 and exhibited at the Salon d'Automne and the Salon des Indépendants from 1933 to 1937. She frequented the Parisian and Breton artistic circles. Great art collector, her credo when building her collection and learning her art “Whatever you do in the world, do it with passion and without mediocrity”. Died in 1978. Her works are rare because she never needed to sell and rarely signed. The Rennes Museum keeps a work. Oriental still life. Marked L. Couvreur on the back.
