"Prince Wagram's Crew Dog: Pj Mene"
Rare bronze sculpture medal 19th by PJ MENE. A pointer dog from Prince Wagram's crew is represented: he walks in a forest treading on branches, roots... He stretches his neck, raising his head, he searches for game. Its head is expressive, its body muscular, its tail rounded. Wagner's letter W is engraved on the body. This very beautiful collector's item is signed on the terrace: PJ MENE L: 23cm W: 8.7cm H: 14cm Good condition. Pierre-Jules MENE (1810-1879) is one of the main representatives of animal sculpture in the 19th century. He exhibited in particular at the Paris Salon and at several universal exhibitions in Paris and London. Presence of a large number of his works in French and foreign museums.
