"View Of The Village Of Tourrettes (var) - Emmanuel Aubain"
Charming little oil on panel signed by Emmanuel Aubain (Saintes 1872 - Cannes 1965), representing a view of the village of Tourrettes (Var) around 1920. Label on the back of the work, with a small handwritten poem by the artist: "C This is the charming village of Tourrettes, on a late spring day, the houses are very old, they have suffered the ravages of time. Born in Saintes in 1872, Emmanuel Aubain studied under the direction of the great painter Jean-Léon Gérôme (1824-1904). He exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français between 1914 and 1936, particularly landscapes from the south of France. He obtained an honorable mention in 1926. Installed in Provence at the end of his life, he died in Cannes after a long career, in 1965. Emmanuel Aubain was also a sculptor.
