"Center Desk Table With Chair, Louis XIV France Style, Nineteenth Century Inlays In Various Woods, Ivories."
Magnificent Louis XIV style table/desk with chair entirely inlaid with precious woods and ivory with floral and animal motifs. The inlays, executed in a very fine way, cover the entire surface of the top, the sides and the elegant cross that joins the 4 twisted legs in black lacquer. All the profiles of the structure are elegantly decorated with a geometric border in ebony and ivory tesserae arranged to create a black and white ribbon. The decorative layout of the floor features a majestic vase of flowers placed on a base from which two elaborate symmetrical plant volutes start. The quality of the inlays is remarkable, so much so that it gives the feeling of perfectly painted surfaces. The use of exotic woods, particularly bright and golden, creates a magnificent contrast with the black lacquered background. This important piece of furniture is a splendid production of the best French cabinet-making of the nineteenth century, which after the parenthesis of the style empire returned to re-propose the glories of the golden ages, with the extraordinary "Boulle" inlays in brass and tortoiseshell or with the most precious exotic wood essences.
