Gaston Jules Louis Durel (1879-1954) - Bouquet of dahlia flowers in a vase next to a Moroccan tea tray. Important oil on hardboard. Signed lower left. Dimensions: 106x 89 cm. (Frame: 120 cm x 104 cm). Original oak frame. In good condition. (Slight chips, see photo No. 9) Gaston-Jules-Louis Durel is a landscape painter born in Gaillac in 1879 and died in Paris in 1954. A student of Laurens, he was a member of the Salon des Artistes Français. Some of his works are kept in the museums of Toulouse, Lille, Saint-Etienne, Gaillac and Casablanca. Gaston DUREL made several trips to North Africa and painted numerous orientalist paintings.
