"Rare Work By Bagnard, Articulated Turtle, 19th Century."
Very rare convict work, from the 19th century, on a real exotic turtle shell, decorated with its head and its four legs, which are in exotic carved wood and articulated with dowels, which are in spicy pork or in an exotic wood .An ankle is missing and was late replaced by a nail; old work from the 19th century, rustic but bringing life to this turtle, whose joints can give very amusing poses, which is clearly voluntary. A scale is missing under the underside of the shell, due to the age of the object which is unique in its kind. Dimensions of the carapace: length: 16cms, width: 11cms dimensions of the head at the end of the shell: 21 cms dimensions width of legs spread maximum 24 cms.
