"Antoine Montagnon, Nevers Earthenware Inkwell, Writing Case With Two Buckets And Quill Holder."

Beautiful polychrome earthenware inkwell from Nevers with two cups and central penholder. It comes from the Antoine Montagnon factory in Nevers and bears the famous brand on the reverse accompanied by a green bow. Brand used for the period from 1875 to 1899. Note, a slight yellowing of the enamel on the right foot, probably indicates an old restoration (see last photos). The two buckets do not have lids, this inkwell was for purely decorative use.
