Magnificent ceramic figurine (75 cm) representing Kannon Bosatsu (Sanskrit: Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara). Kannon Bosatsu is a bodhisattva embodying compassion; its name means "observe sounds", that is, listen to requests. The goddess is dressed in decorative robes with colorful cloud ornaments and a beautiful necklace. She holds a scroll in her hands, probably a Buddhist sutra.

Kutani, Japan, Meiji era (1868-1912). Signature on the underside.

Height 75 cm, width 23 cm.

Good state of conservation. Visible repair on the fingers.
