"Vase With Lid In Blue And White Porcelain, China For Vietnam, Late 19th Century."

Lidded vase in white and blue porcelain, hand painted under cobalt glaze. The painted decoration features fanciful floral arabesques with pomegranate fruits, plum blossoms and ornamental friezes. Additionally, the vase is decorated with four artistic masks of mythical animals and a Foo dog on the top of the lid. A brass band surrounds the lid and spout of the vase, a characteristic element of Chinese porcelain exported to Vietnam.

China for Vietnam, late 19th century. Height 45.5 cm (50 cm with base), diameter 27 cm.

Relatively good condition, damage to beak.
