Monogrammed base.
Luca Madrassi, a French sculptor of Italian origin, began his artistic studies in Rome, then went on to study at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he was a pupil in the studio of Pierre-Jules Cavelier, then in that of Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse. Between 1876 and 1880, Madrassi was Gustave Doré's practitioner, and is also said to have worked for Antoine Bourdelle. Luca Madrassi exhibited at the Salon de la Société des Artistes français in Paris from 1874. He received several honorable mentions and a third-class medal in 1896. He obtained French nationality and became a member of the Société des Artistes français in 1890. He also exhibited at the Salon de la Société nationale des Beaux-arts in 1896. His works are mainly busts, statuettes and allegorical subjects.
Condition: very good. Traces of 2 small knocks.
