Pair of oils on mahogany panel representing genre scenes taking place in the 18th century. , but painted around 1870_80, signed lower left P. van Wijngaerdt. Two servants clear a table and finish the guests' glasses. A waitress clears a dish containing a piece of meat, the guests in the background. From the Dutch school, Petrus Theodorus van Wijngaerdt, portrait painter and lithographer, was born in Rotterdam on March 7, 1816, and died in Haarlem in May 1893. Student of JH van der Laar, he worked in Rotterdam until 1837, in Delft until in 1838, The Hague in 1857, then London in 1860. Exhibited numerous times in Rotterdam, The Hague, and Amsterdam.
