Art Deco Desk Letter Opener - Bronze By Lucien Bazor - 1925/30 - Curiosity

Important bronze letter opener with medal patina created by the Artist Lucien BAZOR in 1972.

titled: “Venus and Love” after Model Created in 1928

Low relief sculpture from the French school representing "Maternité" a naked woman playing with her child on her shoulders, in a very tender attitude, faces turned towards each other. This Child represented with wings on his back symbolizes the Love which unites him to his Mother.
 
The decorations surrounding this scene, as well as the decorations on the reverse, are made up of drapery motifs typical of the 1925/30s in an ART DECO style.

The Signature (is affixed at the bottom under the border) Lucien BAZOR born in 1899 / 1974 he was a Medalist Sculptor,
he received the Grand Prix de Rome in 1923, and in 1930 became general engraver of pieces, a position he held until 1958.

Hallmarked under the foot of a Cornucopia and marked Bronze 1972 date of printing.
