From SERNA Ismaël (1898-1968) Spanish painter trained in Madrid. He came to Paris in 1921 and led the bohemian life in Montparnasse. There he met the entire community of artists at the time. His talent was recognized by Pablo Picasso who, impressed by the sight of his paintings, exclaimed: “Here at last is a painter, a real one!” In 1937, Ismael de la Serna participated in the Spanish Pavilion of the Universal Exhibition. Picasso exhibits his Guernica there. The Center Pompidou and the Museum of Modern Art have his works. Paper laminated to cardboard. 33 x 26 cm Good condition. Burnt paper.
