PAINTING, oil on canvas Sant'Andrea Avellino - 18th century The painting represents Saint Andrew of Avellino, dressed in an embroidered chasuble, at the moment in which he is struck by apoplexy while he is officiating a mass. Next to him is a cleric who supports him. A beam of light descends from above with the wording "Introibo", the first word of the Latin verse introibo ad altare Dei ("I will ascend to the altar of God") of Psalm 42 which, until the reform of the liturgy, the priest pronounced to the feet of the altar at the beginning of the mass. The painting requires pictorial touch-ups, the most significant drops of color are on the lower edge. Measurements: cm. 58 x 43.3 Period: 18th century
