Shako of an infantry officer of the 2nd regiment of foot riffles (chasseurs), black felt muff, braid, black velvet bourdalou, black patent leather visor, plaque with a standing lion in gilded metal, with the number: “2” in a horn of hunting ; chinstraps with rounded scales in gilded copper, hunting horn bosses, tricolor fabric cockade, gilded trimmings braid; interior headband in black leather with wolf teeth, double pompom in green and red wool, golden olive. Belgium, 1831. Rare hairdress.
The regiment was officially created in 1831 by order of the Regent by the grouping of several free corps of Belgian revolutionaries (including the 2nd brigade of free corps, the 1st battalion of Tirailleurs Liégeois and the 2ebataillon of Tirailleurs Luxembourgeois). In 1843, it was quartered in Tournai. In 1872, it was in Antwerp and, on August 20, 1872, received his flag from King Leopold in Laeken. It left for Mons in 1890.
