"Abstract Painting By Jacques Simon Oil On Canvas 1960"
Jacques Simon was born in 1942 and died in 1995. He was very influenced and inspired by his father Louis Maurice Simon (1905-1952) who was a public school teacher and painter. At the age of 20 he began artistic studies at the School of Fine Arts in Rennes and continued at that of Nantes. After obtaining his diploma, Jacques Simon opted for teaching visual arts. At the Mendes-France high school in La Roche sur Yon, he spent most of his career, but he was also seen in Mulhouse, Fontenay le Comte and at the Château d'Olonne. Convinced by the achievements of Le Corbusier, Simon envisaged an artistic practice in the city, close to everyday life. He did huge wall projects and many paintings from the 70s are related to these wall projects. It is found in several museums including the one in Sable D'olonne called L'Abbaye Saint-Croix. '
