"Early 18th Century Roman School Painting With Adam "
Beautiful large painting, oil painting on canvas. The scene represents an episode taken from the book of Genesis of the Old Testament, precisely from passage n. 2, verses 18-20, in which God assigns Adam the task of naming the animals. At the center of the painting, the naked figure of Adam dominates, embodying humanity in its origins. Around him, three animals are depicted: a dog, an ox and a snake. These animals symbolize the diversity of creation and man's interaction with the natural world. The pictorial technique used in the work is oil on canvas, which allows for an intense color rendering and a detailed definition of the contours. The colors chosen create a warm and enveloping atmosphere, which captures the viewer's attention. The frame surrounding the canvas is made of carved and subsequently gilded wood, further embellishing the painting. The painting, due to its style and iconography, can be assigned to the Roman School and dated around the first decades of the 18th century. This period is characterized by the important connection with Renaissance and Baroque art, with particular attention to dramatic expression and the ability to tell stories through art.
