19th Century Bronze Dog Sculpture Signed E. Frémiet

Bronze print of great realism with nuanced brown patina. from the Old Editions, this lying LOULOU Dog is a lovely, well-detailed foundry work. Cast during the Artist's lifetime, numbered 311 and signed on the terrace at the level of the front legs. In very good conditions.
Adorable work by French sculptor Emmanuel FRÉMIET (1824 - 1910). Born in Montrouge Sculptor-painter and university professor. Member of the Royal Academy, Grand Officer of the Legion of Honor in 1900.
The most notable main works: The Equestrian Statues of Joan of Arc (1874) and (1900) and another by Simon Bolivar in (1910). But also a Gorilla kidnapping a woman (1887) and the Statue of Neptune ex...the Trapped Elephant (1878) are today in front of the ORSAY Museum. Without forgetting its numerous animal subjects of all sizes. Alongside his monumental works commissioned by the State, he was best known and recognized as an excellent animal sculptor.
