"Large Venetian Mirror In Golden Wood From The 18th Century"
Superb and impressive Venetian mirror from the 18th century, very imposing despite the finesse of its woodwork. It is entirely in carved and gilded wood. Its ornamentation is tracery, scrolls, Greek friezes, cabochons, bay leaves, a wreath of holly leaves tied with a ribbon, large acanthus leaves and lily flowers. the gold leaf gilding is thick. there is very little repair on the edges but the rich sculpture is sufficient in itself. Sublime work from the 18th century with its original patina, some usual restorations.
