"Jacques Marcelin Magnificent Oil On Canvas Representing The Lively Banks Of The Odet In Brittany"
Lovely oil on canvas representing two young Breton women, one with a blue apron, the other coral, under the pines on the banks of the Odet. In the background a boat with a white sail moves silently on the water. The artist was able to perfectly capture the light of the place imbued with gentle tranquility. It is mentioned on the chassis “rivière de l’Odet”. Signature at the bottom right “J. Marcelin”. The painting is perfectly highlighted by its magnificent stuccoed wooden key frame with a copper patina in Art Nouveau style. Around 1880 - 1900 We have few biographical references on the painter, whom amateurs know well since we come across the artist quite regularly with very pretty scenes of Brittany. He also appears in the list of painters of Breton origin or who have worked significantly in Brittany published by Wikipedia. Dimensions: 40.8 cm x 32.8 cm (6 F format) 54 cm x 46 cm with its frame The painting, on its original canvas, is in good condition. Usual restorations visible in the photos.
