19th Century Auguste Moreau’s Bronze Statuette flag

Object description :

"19th Century Auguste Moreau’s Bronze Statuette"
Important lost wax cast bronze sculpture with dark patina depicting Dionysus as a child. The god holds his characteristic attributes in his hands: a laurel branch in his left hand, symbol of victory and glory, while a small amphora in his right, representing wine and celebration. The sculpture captures the image of the god in the act of dancing, with a small moving veil that partially wraps him and rotates around him, creating a sense of movement and grace. The classical echoes are evident not only in the chosen subject, but also in the detailed reproduction of the small tree branch near Dionysus' feet. The latter is inserted purely for decorative purposes rather than functioning as a physical support for the sculpture. The statue is characterized by great realism, with particular attention to the meticulous details of the face and body. It can be attributed to the French artist and sculptor Auguste Moreau, as demonstrated by his signature engraved at the foot of the statue. Its creation dates back to the end of the 19th century. The base of the sculpture is made of wood, with applied fabric. This unique piece is an important historical and artistic testimony, and a valuable addition to any collection.
