HERBÉ Charles Auguste (1801-1884) Remarkable work of the artist who drew directly on the stone. And very rare, because lithographic stones are generally erased to be used by other works or artists over time. A superb document from the 1830s. The printed lithograph was in the History of French, Civil, Military and Religious Costumes. The artist published this work at his own expense. Herbé trained in Paris with Charlet, Raffet then Gros. Exhibited at the Salon from 1832 to 1841. He obtained a Gold medal. Highly appreciated, he was President of the Commission of Fine Arts. In 1841, he returned to Reims where he taught drawing. Few works by Herbé remain as most were destroyed during the War. A real object of quality and curiosity. 28 x 22 cm Shipping costs in addition to 25 euros for France. Other countries, contact us.
