This sculpture, formerly polychrome, early 16th century, represents Saint Maurice.
Coming from Thebes, he was a Christian who died for his faith under Emperor Diocletian at the beginning of the 4th century.
From his soldier's outfit, we find the finely carved chain mail clothing, the boots and the long belted tunic with marked folds. Its scabbard is empty, the arm of the sword having disappeared.
Calmed, his face with fine features and long hair in large curls, he holds a book in his left hand.
Lacks and accidents due to the centuries.
