Netsuke – Rare and interesting carved boxwood subject depicting a famous poet called Saigyo Hoshi or Saigyo the Monk, who lived in the 12th century, at the end of the Heian period and the beginning of the Kamakura period. He is shown seated, looking far ahead at Fuji. Dimensions: 3 x 3 cm. Beautiful natural patina. Japan Edo (1603-1868) 18th century.
