In mahogany wood, it rests on 4 sheathed legs ending in grooves and opens with a drawer on the front. The drawer releases a leather-lined shelf, revealing a compartment and is decorated with compartments intended to receive ink and sand.
The top covered in tan leather unfolds to form a desk and is raised by an ingenious mechanism to be able to adjust the height and direction of use. On each side of the table is a leather covered pull.
It is stamped under a crossbar with the mark of the famous cabinetmaker Jean-Baptiste VASSOU (1739-1807).

He worked a lot for the merchants to whom he delivered many pieces of furniture. Through his work, he enjoyed prosperity, even under the Revolution.
