Object description :

"Nicolas Ricoeur, (attributed To), 1750-1800."
Beautiful still life attributed to Nicolas Ricoeur, (1750-1800) active in Bordeaux in the 18th century. very good condition; a relining dating back around forty years was done. Only two small repaintings on two petals, which did not require this relining; otherwise to strengthen the original canvas. Beautiful, very fresh colors. Old and normal cracks (fine and almost invisible) all over the canvas proving to be in very good original condition, without repainting, (except for the 2 very small accidents). An identical painting is in the Fécamp museum. (see photos) of the same dimensions and same composition (an additional dragonfly on ours as well as some similar flowers but of different colors differentiate it...) The Fécamp painting is also attributed and unsigned. the coast of this rare painter is high. Beautiful 19th century frame with very beautiful gilding. This painter took up the works of Nicolas Baudesson, a very famous 17th century flower painter, and curiously the coast of Ricoeur seems higher than that of Baudesson (see sales results.may be due to the rarity of this painter on the market. Dimensions with frame: 78x91 cms without frame: 60x73 cms cms. canvases at the Le Havre Museum and Fécamp Museum.
