Important Art Deco period painting oil painting on canvas signed lower right A.DAVID (André David 19th-20th century French impressionist and modern painter) Large neoclassical composition symbolizing Venus featuring an elegant naked young woman partially covered with a veil imitating the flowing contours of his elongated body. Montmartre model frame in carved wood. Good general condition, dimensions: 1.40 m long -Heart. He also painted canvases intended to decorate the Cristal Palace on rue Saint Augustin in Paris. He created superb large-format frescoes with an Art-Deco aesthetic and subjects in the colonial style representing scenes of antelopes, gazelles and various exotic animals. The works of André David were offered at auction with prices ranging from 100 to 10,000 euros depending on the size and support of the work. Since 2009, this artist's record price at auction has been $10,200 for "La Cavian des...", sold at Shannon in 2009.
