Object description :

"Bakhtiar Gallery Rug, 150 X 302 Cm, Kork Wool Hand-knotted In Iran Around 1960, In Perfect Condition"
Very beautiful Bakthiar in gallery circa 1960, beauty, comfort, robustness and longevity.
This piece measures 150 cm wide, with a length of 302 cm, in perfect condition, while having fresh and bright colors.
This rug originates from the Chahar Mahal (Shotour) region of Iran.
It is a Bakthiar with medallions in the shape of conjoined mandorlas, very different from the usual square or rectangular structures. These mandorlas spread across the entire field, a pattern found from time to time on this style of rug.
The mandorlas are decorated with cypress trees, stylized flowers, and stylized trees of life.
The colors are mainly old pinks, mauve, purple, moss green, and blue highlighted with brown added with a hint of faded red, orange and curry yellow.
The field is made up of fifteen lines of mandorlas, skillfully colored and tied with great application of symmetry.
Note the quality of the wide border and its oak leaf pattern, symbolizing the water cycle and eternity, separated by large stylized flowers.
Velvet, fringes, edges all in superb condition
This type of Bakthiar carpet is not the most common, it remains a so-called nomadic style of carpet, using colors specific to the repertoire of these populations who crisscrossed Persia.
This carpet is particularly careful in its decoration and it presents a certain transition between the nomadic carpet and the urban carpet.
These pieces are resistant, knotted with very high quality wools from the mountains.
Despite their name and unlike different types of carpets, the Bakthiar are not knotted by members of the Bakthiar tribe, the Bakhtiaris, but by another population that is now sedentary.
The Chahar Mahal region produces the Bakthiar carpet but also the lesser known Yalame carpets, more recent in production but with a very good reputation. It is a finely woven rug, with superb decor and high quality.
This rug has been professionally and eco-friendly cleaned.
