Pastel painting representing a still life at breakfast, signed and dated. 20th century Size 63*49 cm and 76*62 cm with frame Jorge Borrás, born June 5, 1952 in Benicarló in Spain, is a painter, sculptor, engraver and medalist. After completing his studies at the Royal Catalan Academy of Fine Arts in Sant Jordide Barcelona, Jorge Borrás moved to France. His works, in particular his bronzes, are sold in important auctions mainly in France (Versailles, Drouot, Saint Germain en Laye, Enghien les Bains, etc. on June 30, 1992, two bronzes were sold at Christie's in London). They are exhibited in Parisian Salons such as: the Salon d'Automne, the Salon des Artistes Français, the Salon des Indépendants, the exhibitions of the Société nationale des beaux-arts, the Salon de l'école française. He received the Arts-Sciences-Letters medal and is a member of the International Association of Plastic Arts (affiliated with UNESCO). Furthermore, he created a series of medals and sculptures for the Paris Mint, and various creations such as the bust of Dr. Coll Colomé, a monument erected in Benicarlo (Spain) and publishing covers including the novel by Jean-Marc RobertsVincent's Friend. The work of Jorge Borrás is a tribute to women. His favorite themes are ballerinas and bathers as well as women in everyday life attitudes. Wild animals, some on the verge of extinction, are also very present in the work of Jorge Borrás, especially in recent years where he takes great pleasure in capturing the wild moment of his attitudes. Passionate about drawing, he started painting at the age of ten and had his first exhibition at the age of twenty. At the Barcelona School of Fine Arts he discovered sculpture with Luisa Granero and studied painting and sculpture. Student in the drawing section of the great master of Spanish painting and portrait painter Francisco Ribera Gomez with whom he became friends. An important work "Cristo resucitado", (bronze) is visible in the Church of San Bartolomé in Benicarló (Spain). By decree of the President of the French Republic of November 30, 2019, published in the Official Journal of December 3, 2019, he was named Knight in the National Order of Merit.
