A student at the Academy of Molines, Sir Hamilton Seymour commissioned portraits of his wife and his children which were a considerable success. The King of the Belgians ordered paintings from him.
Friend of Alfred Stevens, he moved to Paris in 1844 where he enjoyed immense success. The Emperor and the Empress were among his clients.
