Abstract painting signed lower left Marsan, for Roger Marsan, in a Montparnasse carved wooden frame. This work is similar to the work of Nicolas de Staël. Dimensions of the canvas 41x33 cm Total dimensions, with frame, 63x55 cm This artist worked in Paris as a dental surgeon and taught stomatology. It was in 1947 that he acquired a second home in Méry-sur-Marne where he set up his workshop. After his death in 1993, this property was sold. The buyers discovered his paintings and lithographs which they rescued from oblivion. Roger Marsan did not need the fruit of his passion to live. Which explains why few of his works are on the market. Like many abstract painters, Marsan first painted figurative works. Then, he discovered the cubism of Delaunay, Braque, Picasso who strongly influenced him. He died in 1993.
