Swedish Golden Wood Mirror From The Baroque Period, 17th Century. flag

Object description :

"Swedish Golden Wood Mirror From The Baroque Period, 17th Century."
Rare Swedish baroque mirror in gilded wood, from the 17th century.
Vintage mercury ice cream on its wooden floor.

Probably restored in the 19th century, the gilding alternates matt and shiny according to Nordic taste.
This type of mirror was “astronomically” expensive at the time of their manufacture.
This one comes from a large family from the North of Sweden.
Some small gaps should be noted on the coating covering the molding framing the mirror (see photo), gaps re-gilded during the 19th century restoration.
Despite these "small imperfections" due to age, the whole retains a beautiful homogeneity.
