First edition for this work by Contant d'Orville printed in Paris by JP Costard, Librarian in 1769 in two volumes in 12. Dedicated to His Highness Monsignor the Prince of Ligne, Amblise and the Holy Empire: . "The Splendors of Great Britain", containing everything interesting that happened in the three Kingdoms of England, Scotland & Ireland, from the founding of the Monarchy to the Peace of 1763. Beautiful copy in speckled calfskin, ribbed spine decorated with gilded titles and volume numbers in red and ocher morocco, marbled endpapers, red edges. Ex-libris from the 1930s monogrammed AB in engraved wood “Homo Artifex Vitae”. A concise work that is easy to find your way around the dynasties across the Channel and their chronology in good condition, a serious work recognized by a talented author....Beautiful complete copy in two volumes.
