The painting shows a certain pictorial confidence, and was certainly painted by a very capable painter belonging to an artistic workshop active in the papal state, in fact it is possible to recognize the knowledge of Bolognese, Carracci, but also purely Roman stylistic influences. Certainly, careful research on this canvas can reveal the name of a skilled painter or an interesting pictorial school of devotional scope active between the end of the seventeenth century and the beginning of the eighteenth century.
the painting is characterized by a certain materiality and dense and confident brushstrokes, which can be seen by approaching the painting.
The canvas is mounted on a gilded and carved Marche frame from the same period as the painting or from a few decades later.
The measurements are: 53cm x 65cm high including frame.
The painting was recently cleaned and restored, but given that it was in excellent condition, without any pictorial losses, as can be seen from the bright colors still preserved, it was decided not to reline it and leave it on the first canvas with its original stretcher.
