"Charles Gir (1883-1941) Lovely Pastel Dancer In Tutu Ballerina Young Woman "
Lovely ballerina, one of our artist's favorite subjects, very popular during the Belle Epoque, who represented young ballerinas with such brilliance and accuracy, mainly in pastel. Here our ballerina wears a vaporous canary yellow tutu in a graceful movement. The artist chose to depict her in front of an electric blue stage curtain, thus bringing out her delicious subject wonderfully. Executed on watermarked paper from the old and famous Papeterie Canson et Montgolfier, the pastel is highlighted by an old wooden stick gilded with leaf. Signed lower left “Ch gir”. Around 1920. Dimensions: 57 cm x 47 cm sheet 62 cm x 51 cm with its frame Good condition. Light deposits on the glass. Many other objects to discover in my stand at the antique fairs in which I participate.
