HE ENTERED THE FINE ARTS SCHOOL AT THE AGE OF 16 WHERE HE STUDYED UNDER THE DIRECTION OF HISTORY PAINTER FRANÇOIS EDOUART PICOT FOR SIX YEARS.
IN 1863, HE PRESENTED TWO OF HIS WORKS "THE NAP" and "REPENTIR".
HE TAKEN PART IN THE FRANCO-PRUSSIAN WAR OF 1870 WHERE HE WAS WOUNDED AND HE RECEIVED THE CROSS OF THE LEGION OF HONOR IN RECOGNITION OF HIS ACTION. .
HIS WORKS WERE VERY APPRECIATED BY GREAT AMERICAN COLLECTORS, IN PARTICULAR JOHN ASTOR AND WILLIAM VANDERBILT. PROVENANCE PRIVATE COLLECTION
