This very beautiful earthenware bird cage from Desvres, called odor cage, dating from the end of the 19th century is a reproduction of model no. 1326 from the Fourmaintraux factory in Desvres, with 18th century Moustiers decoration after Joseph Fouque. Rectangular in shape with polychrome floral decoration and foliage highlighted with combs. Lid with openwork decoration and grotesques in cartridges, removable top with a brass ring to suspend the cage. Underside also decorated with flowers and a grotesque in its center. This cage houses the reproduction of a bird in textile material and feathers on its perch. Originally, these scent cages could house a bird modeled in scented ointment. This cage is electrified, its twisted fabric wire is wrapped around the socket and can be easily put back into operation. Cage in excellent original condition.
