The second stamp, on handle and lid, is under one Royal crown, that of William IV, or Ernst August I von Hannover, (not sufficiently legible),
The first when this Kingdom was part of United Kingdom, the second became Kingdom of Hanover in title. (I'm not competent enough to specify). We can admire the work of skill coppersmith, to hammer this potbellied cylindrical body, with a flat base containing 10 to 12 liters, and above this beautiful shoulder to include a recessed, threaded lid with its forged elegant handle. Spout, taken from piece, with hemmed edge is completely covered, it shows 2 pretty reinforcements, and little hinge for flap.
The large handle, beaten copper, hinges on a surprising whiskered stirrup on front, very decorative, but above all calculated to balance a 15kg kettle when tilted.
Beautiful object, which has a majesty that suits it perfectly.
Condition: as found, superb in appearance, well polished, BUT, a hole on bottom, awkwardly plugged, and quite a few dents on surface: condition that deserves an overhaul.
Dimensions = 40cm x 32cm x 25cm, weight 4.5kg.
