"Uncovered Pitcher, In Pewter. 18th-19th Century."
The baluster body rests on a false plinth foot. The inflected throat opens onto a high cylindrical-conical goblet with a circular neck. Half-round handle with triangular thumb rest. Traces of lathe finishing on the exterior bottom. The shape of the body, close to those of the ARRAS pitchers, and the cup reminiscent of the AMIENS pitchers, suggests a Flemish or Picardy origin. This type of pitcher (which is not a water pot) was intended for the same purpose as covered pitchers: measuring wine. Here the deliberate absence of a lid facilitates intense service by simplifying gestures. Height: 18 cm. Light gray, silky patina. 18th-19th century period. Very good condition.
