Chocolate Pot in solid silver from the rare Bureau of La Rochelle, raised on three hoof feet with cartouche attachments. The baluster-shaped body has a fluted spout terminating with a seed, and lid has a moving disc specific to chocolate pots, the latter topped with a button-shaped finial. Side handle in blackened wood. Charge and Discharge hallmarks for LA ROCHELLE 1781-89, Common House Hallmark for La Rochelle 1782 (V surmounted by Crowned H) and Hallmark of Master Goldsmith Jean-Baptiste CHASLON active in 1760. This rare "Chocolatière" from La Rochelle is in very good condition, remarkably hallmarked, and only micro-scratches from use to note. For an informed collector...Height of Chocolate Pot : 22.5 cm
