Oil on canvas "nude", framed in silver-colored wood, signed René Guinand (1892-1983). Swiss school. René Guinand was born in La Chaux de Fonds on November 15, 1892, his parents settled in Geneva in 1896. He attended classes at the Geneva School of Fine Arts in 1916 and met Ferdinand Hodler. From 1917, a long and remarkable career as a painter began for him, illustrated by numerous prizes and distinctions. He stayed in Paris from 1925 to 1934 where he met Othon Friez, Savin, de Waroquier and the sculptor Despiau. He participates in the Salon des Indépendants, Salon des Tuileries, Autumn Salon and at the same time he exhibits at the Rath Museum, Athénée Museum, Moos Gallery in Geneva. From 1935 René Guinand appeared on the most famous picture rails both in Switzerland and abroad, he was invited to the Venice Biennale in 1936. He was appointed professor at the Geneva School of Fine Arts in 1944. In 1963 the city of Geneva organizes a major retrospective exhibition of his work.
